The Marangu Route, also known as the “Coca-Cola Route,” is a popular and well-established trail to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Located on the southeastern side of the mountain, this iconic route is favored for its simplicity and comfortable huts for overnight stays.

As you ascend, the landscape changes from lush rainforests to moorland and finally to an arctic desert. While considered a relatively straightforward route, proper acclimatization and physical preparation are crucial for a successful climb.

**Day 1: Arrival in Moshi**
– Welcome to Tanzania! Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) where our representative will pick you up and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi.
– Meet your climbing guide for a briefing on the trek and equipment check.
– Relax and prepare for the exciting journey ahead.

**Day 2: Moshi to Mandara Hut**
– After breakfast, we’ll drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (1,860m).
– Begin the trek through the lush rainforest with a gradual ascent.
– Reach Mandara Hut (2,700m) by late afternoon.
– Overnight stay in comfortable huts with shared facilities.

**Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut**
– Leave Mandara Hut and continue the trek through the heather and moorland zones.
– Pass by Maundi Crater for stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
– Arrive at Horombo Hut (3,720m) in the afternoon.
– Take in the breathtaking sights of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks.
– Rest and acclimatize for the next day’s ascent.

**Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut**
– Today’s hike takes you through the Alpine desert zone.
– Ascend to Kibo Hut (4,703m) at the base of the Kibo crater wall.
– Enjoy the spectacular view of the summit and the surrounding plains.
– Rest and prepare for the summit attempt, starting early the next day.

**Day 5: Summit Day – Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut**
– Wake up before midnight and begin the challenging trek to the summit.
– Ascend in the darkness under the stars, following a steep and rocky trail.
– Reach Gilman’s Point (5,681m) at the crater rim just before sunrise.
– Continue along the rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – the highest point in Africa!
– Take in the triumphant moment and capture the sunrise over the vast plains below.
– Descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest and refreshments.
– Continue the descent to Horombo Hut for the night.

**Day 6: Horombo Hut to Moshi**
– After breakfast, begin the final descent through the rainforest.
– Reach the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificates.
– Say farewell to your mountain crew and drive back to Moshi.
– Celebrate your incredible achievement at a well-deserved farewell dinner.

**Day 7: Departure**
– Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure.
– If time allows, explore the local markets and shops in Moshi before your flight.
